WHAT ARE BOOTLEGS?

Bootleg Beatles recordings?  Friday April 19, 1970 the world was shocked with the news that Paul was quitting The Beatles.  How would we survive without them and their music.  They provided us with the soundtrack and inspiration for the 60's and our lives.  Now they were gone.   Or were they?

1969 saw the first Bootleg recording of The Beatles, Kum Back.  The aborted Get Back album, became the first Bootleg Beatles album to hit the streets.  Now that they were gone maybe there were more unheard  recordings.

Ok, so what is a bootleg?  They are the previously (and still unofficially) released recordings The Beatles made either will rehearsing, recording in the studio or a live concert, speaking or just clowning around.

Where can I find out about all the songs, outtakes, versions I need? Where can I look? THE 910 has been giving information for over 20 years! They offer the best info anywhere hands down on material! Recording dates, backround info, where to find the best and most complete performance....check out link below.

THE 910

How many are there?  In 1995 authors Jim Berkenstadt and Belmo wrote "Black Market Beatles", the most complete reference discography ever published on The Beatles.  It lists all the unauthorized Beatles releases form all over the world in all formats ( LP's, 45's, CD's, cassettes, 7 and 12 inch EP's, flexi discs, colored vinyl, picture discs and box sets).  Over 1,600 titles!!

So, what do I need bootlegs for if I already have the "real" albums?  The Beatles albums (at least the EMI/UK releases) were painstakingly put together.  The Beatles wanted only the best versions of their songs and a perfect format for the albums.   Bootlegs provide us with the actual making of the songs.  Finding out how the songs came about or some of the antics that went on in the studio, is only part of the incite you'll get by listening to demos and rehearsals.

The best place to find real live Bootlegs is either at Record shows or Record shops.  Places like eBay and Yahoo also have some on their auctions.  However, there are some people that don't approve of this kind of recording being on these sites and most advertised Bootlegs are removed by eBay.

There are also Bootleg Traders on the web.
